What People Say

Most Liked

Local patrons rave about the fast service, which is consistently praised for being efficient and friendly. The variety of menu options, from delicious crab dip appetizers to hearty meatloaf dinners, keeps customers coming back for more. The café's unique offerings, such as the Reuben egg rolls, showcase creativity in comfort food. The drink selection, particularly the craft beers and cocktails, adds a delightful twist to the dining experience. Many also appreciate the family-friendly environment, making it easy for diners of all ages to find something tasty on the menu. There’s a quaint charm to the decor with historic photos lining the walls, adding depth to the dining experience. Lastly, the outdoor patio is a favorite spot, allowing guests to enjoy meals al fresco and soak in the lively Fredericksburg atmosphere.

Most Disliked

Some diners have noted that the café can get quite loud during peak hours, making conversation a challenge. Weekend brunches, especially Sundays at 11 AM, often reach full capacity, leading to longer wait times. Although the food is generally praised, a few guests mentioned that certain dishes, like the crab dip, could benefit from more generous portions of crab meat. While the cozy atmosphere is inviting, some patrons found the seating arrangement cramped, especially during busy dining hours. A handful of customers also expressed a desire for a more diverse dessert menu, saying that while the chocolate brownie is a hit, more sugary options would be welcome. Overall, the ambiance can fluctuate with the crowd, which may affect the dining experience on busy nights.

When I ordered the chicken and dumplings, I was hoping a recipe with herbs and vegetables. The cozy restaurant, along with the best tasting chicken and dumplings I have ever eaten, made for a perfect afternoon meal! Thank You, for the friendly hospitality of my servers!

Amy's Cafe in Fredericksburg was the perfect stop for me, my wife, and my son after a tough morning of cleaning gutters. We were tired and hungry, and this place absolutely delivered. We started with some potato skins and Cokes, which were hot, fresh, and delicious. My wife and I both ordered patty melts, while my son got a burger. Everything was cooked perfectly and served piping hot with generous portions of crispy fries and onion rings. The food tasted incredibly fresh, and the ranch dressing was, without a doubt, some of the best I've ever had—so good! The cafe itself has so much character. It's an old building, but it’s filled with wonderful paintings and pictures that tell the story of both Fredericksburg and the cafe's history. It was a real pleasure to be surrounded by such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back the next time we need a break!

We have driven by for years and never stopped. Had time Saturday afternoon to take a break and did NOT regret it. We ordered Ruben egg rolls and crab dip for apps. eggs rolls were off the hook. Crab dip had great flavor but did lack on lump crab meat. There were two different chicken wraps ordered and they were both delicious. Had a cheeseburger and it was perfect. Also a Ruben that was really good and lastly a childs mac and cheese that as you can see by the pics was delicious. Service was phenomenal, they were very busy but our waitress didn’t miss a beat. Atmosphere was great in this historic bldg. So if you are headed into FXBG and wanna grab a bite before going into downtown I’d highly recommend this hidden gem!

We stopped in and Kris took good care of us. The food was good with the salmon cooked perfectly but it was a bit on the loud side for me. We'll be back and try lunch.

We've frequented Amy's Cafe over the last 6 years and we have never been disappointed. Last night we tried the special Chili Mac and also ordered Fried Green Tomato's as an appetizer. Both were delicious! The portion sizes are generous - we were able to bring some home for leftovers and both of us have talked about how good the Chili Mac was several times since. The staff has always been very friendly and attentive to us while we dined. We highly recommend you give Amy's a try!

This place is great! Great food, great drinks and super friendly staff! I played a show here last Saturday night and I was super impressed! They are so friendly there! The beer and food were excellent! I’m hoping to return soon so I can try the chocolate peanut butter pie! Then I’ll go back and try the chocolate pie after that! The ambiance is fun too as it’s in an old building with tons of charm and character :)
